iPad sales are so astronomical that if there was a Business Unit separate from Apple, that exclusively sold the iPad, then that particular unit itself would be placed way ahead of many top Fortune 500 companies in terms of revenue. In 2012 itself, iPad sales touched the $32 Billion mark amounting to a whooping 60% of the total tablets sold. Fortune’s Philip Elmer-DeWitt stated that if the iPad were on the Fortune 500, it would rank No.98, making it more profitable than Nike ($20.9 billion), Macy’s ($26.4 billion) and even McDonald’s ($27 billion).
