4th generation cellular versions of Apple's iPad mini are now available in Australia in what is a busy day for new high tech devices hitting local retail shelves.
WiFi models of the iPad mini have been available since late October, but those wanting a cellular version of the scaled down iPad tablet had to wait until today.
Apple has begun selling 4G LTE-capable iPad minis outright for $509, $619 and $729 with 16, 32 and 64 Gigabytes of storage respectively.
However being a cellular device, the mini is now available on contract through Australian telcos.
Telstra today said the mini was available on a range of no upfront fee plans with payments over 24 months.
The 16 Gigabyte iPad mini would cost $46 per month on a Telstra 24-month plan with no upfront fee and 4GB of data per month.
Optus is offering the 16 GB mini with 2 Gigabytes of data per month for $62.05 per month on a 12-month contract and $41 per month on a 24-month plan.
Optus today also began selling the 4G-LTE capable Nokia Lumia 820 Windows 8 phone, the slightly lower-specced version of the Lumia 920, for $0 upfront on a $50 Optus plan, and HTC's new Windows 8 handset, for $0 upfront on a $35 Optus plan.
